AR Welding Simulators for Safer, Smarter Training

Augmented reality welding training lets trainees practise real welding techniques with no arc, sparks, fumes or consumables, while the system scores every weld. Institutions train more students for less, and trainees reach the workshop better prepared.

AR welding training

What is AR welding training?

Augmented reality (AR) welding training lets a trainee weld on real-looking practice pieces while wearing a helmet with a built-in stereovision headset. Tracking markers on the torch and workpieces let the system follow every movement and show a realistic weld pool, bead and sparks inside the helmet.

Because nothing is actually melted, trainees can repeat an exercise as often as they need, with no material cost and no safety risk, and instructors get an objective score for each weld.

How it works

From Helmet to Score in Four Steps

  1. 01

    Put on the helmet

The AR helmet's stereovision headset shows a realistic weld view.

  2. 02

    Choose the process and settings

Select MIG/MAG, flux-cored, TIG or stick, and set voltage, amperage and more.

  3. 03

    Weld the practice piece

Trainees weld on reusable training pieces while the system tracks every movement.

  4. 04

    Review the score and repeat

Each weld is scored, so trainees correct their technique and try again.

Benefits

Why Institutions Are Adopting AR Welding Training

Lower training costsNo metal plates, gas, wire or electrodes used up; the AR training pieces are reused again and again.
Faster learningInstant feedback and scoring on every weld helps trainees correct their technique sooner.
Ready for certificationUnlimited practice builds the skills trainees need before certification tests.
Safer trainingNo real arc, sparks, heat or fumes while beginners learn.
Green technologyLess material waste and no welding fumes.
Installs anywhereRuns on an ordinary power outlet; no welding power supply needed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is AR welding training a replacement for real welding?

It is the first step. Trainees build correct technique on the simulator, then move to real welding better prepared, using less material and with fewer safety incidents.

Which welding processes can be trained?

MIG/MAG (GMAW), flux-cored (FCAW), TIG (GTAW) and stick (SMAW).

Does the simulator need special power?

No. It runs on standard mains power because it doesn't create a real arc.
